I am not into squirrels

For the record, I have not now, nor have I ever been involved with a squirrel. That would be a bad habit. And I'm not nuts.

Tim, I owe you an apology and an explanation.

I have not visited your site in quite some time. I did not mean it as a personnal insult although I imagine that you must take it that way.

I have recently been involved in a very tough battle with a difficult habit which I was desperate to break. For 23 years I have been a daily user of a certain medicinal "herb", if you catch my meaning.

During the course of quitting I found it was necessary to stop all my routines and habits. I began doing things completely differently in my day to day life. Surfing the internet was one of those things I stopped doing. I am still struggling with it but it's been over 2 months now and things are getting easier.

Now, I am figuring out what parts of my life I like and what parts were just time killers. I am reintroducing those parts that I genuinely like.

As it turns out you are one of the parts that I like. I hope you understand and don't judge me too harshly for not explaining earlier. (I also hope that you still get email alerts from this blog).

Shanda tells me that your enthusiasm for blogging seems to be waning and I guess it's possible that you'll stop some day soon. You have a whole family now to occupy your time and provide meaning. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if you did give it up.

I'm going to visit the family for the holidays but come the first of the year, if you're still posting, I intend to begin reading you again. (Of course this news may be the very thing that causes you to give up).

In any case I want to wish you and your family a very merry christmas and a wonderful new year.

Pete,
I never took it as an insult that you haven't been dropping by Dizgraceland. Although the world should revolve around me, I've grown to accept that it doesn't. I understand that everyone has stuff going on in the real world that takes priority over the virtual one. I halfway assumed you were walking around the desert with Mickey spreading the gospel to lizards and cactus anyway. So as our virtual Aussie friends would say, "No worries."

My enthusiasm for blogging has waned a bit only because my enthusiasm for being a good father has bumped it into the background. Most of my evenings now revolve around walking Enya-Maria, feeding her and then putting away her toys when Tess takes her up for bath and bedtime. I've also discovered a new found love of editing home video movies that takes up the rest of my free time once EM is in bed.

Another reason I haven't been blogging much of late is that my laptop monitor died and I had to buy a new laptop. I don't plan to give up blogging though. And you are more than welcome anytime you want to drop by. I've always enjoyed your humor.

Hope you have a great holiday. Take care my friend.
